At the Outer Rim of Xiazhoung

At the Outer Rim of Xiazhoung
(Kecskés/Miklós)

The track is one of the dark ambient mixes from the last recording period. The title refers to certain archaeoastronomical traditions in China.

United Gods was started in 1989 as a performance group, in 1990 we started making industrial-ritual music. In the 1990s the band appeared on several international compilations and did one album Daath. In the new millennium we released a double CD in 2004 Joined to an Angel, our 2005 CD-release Elő-Jelek Omens. With a new line-up since 2010, we did a studio album AER, 2010, a live album Live in Budapest, 2011, a mini-CD Platon IC, 2012, and a hand-painted limited edition minidisc, Pluto MC 2013; most recently Speculative Speculum was released in 2014. Compilation appearances include Kalpamantra releases, Vita Ignes — Corpus Lignum and Music for the Rising Sun.

Magick, Music and Ritual 10, the one and only album release for 2014 from the Anthology Project, is being released around Autumnal Equinox, Sun in Libra, 2014, with 26 tracks and over 2 hours of music by 21 artists, new and returning voices, and some tracks exclusive to the Hermetic Library and this anthology.

The artwork for this issue was created by Terra Bosart and is an interpretation of Atu 0, the Fool, in Tarot. One way of counting years is to use a cycle of Tarot cards. The current year count is Anno V 0 which can be represented by, and thus can be seen as having correspondence to, a combination of both Atu V, the Hierophant, and Atu 0, the Fool.

In addition to the cover, for the first time, this anthology release includes two bonus images. The first is an illustration that accompanies the OrosKhaos track “The Great Descent”. The second image is a visual word play on “Magick Music Ritual” by Craig Conley, who appears on this release as part of the group Esperantoland. These bonus images are part of the download and are intended to offer an additional surface on which to reflect the feelings and thoughts developed by listening and deepened in relationship to this playlist.

The Hermetic Library at Hermetic.com has an overall vision of Archiving, Engaging and Encouraging the living Western Esoteric Tradition, Hermeticism, and Aleister Crowley’s Thelema. I started the benefit anthology project to help promote newer works in the Western Esoteric Tradition to the audience of the Hermetic Library and beyond. The anthology project also further raises awareness about the corpus and culture of magick and ritual.

I encourage you to check out the Hermetic Library at Hermetic.com, if you aren’t already familiar with it, as that’s the reason this project exists and may also offer inspiration to you. Speculative Spectrum IX 2013

Speculative Spectrum IX 2013
(Kecskés/Miklós)

Speculative Speculum is one of the tracks composed for the forthcoming United Gods album. The deep, drone-like, ritualistic dark ambient sounds are combined with a fragmented percussion-loop. The title refers to certain magico-mystical philosophies and theologies and practices, such as the Ishraqi school in Iran, the kabbalistic speculative-gnostic visionary techniques, Enochian magic and hermetic currents in the works of Hegel to name but a few examples. The track was composed by Péter Kecskés and Péter Miklós in 2013.

United Gods was started in 1989 as a performance group, in 1990 we started making industrial-ritual music. In the 1990s the band appeared on several international compilations and did one album Daath. The ninth issue from the Hermetic Library Anthology Project is being released on Samhain in Fall 2013, at 15° Scorpio. This is the final album in the second full year of releases, and completes all four quarters in 2013. Magic, Music and Ritual 9 brings together 16 tracks, from new and returning artists, with over an hour of new music in this ongoing series.

The artwork and design of this issue was created by Mustafa al-Laylah. This is the fourth of a full series of covers which has spanned the entire year. The cover design of this issue is the upper left quadrant from the full set of covers this year which can be combined to make a larger image, a collectable poster that combines the elements of all four seasons. The upper left quadrant, in this case, being related to a position on the wheel of the year and the typical correspondences between this time of year, this Fall season, and various things associated such as magical weapon, element, zodiac, cherub and so on. Mustafa has done a great job in combining various correspondences into a compelling and interesting image for this cover, and we can all look forward to seeing the whole image revealed through the rest of the year.
