Celebrating 3 years as librarian of the Hermetic Library

I almost missed it, but someone pointed out to me that it’s been 3* years since I took over the Hermetic Library.

Over at Facebook, the page for the library has passed 8888 in the last week, and there’s over 4000 followers on Twitter with over another 2500 following via Tumblr, not to mention others following via one of the pools or RSS and so forth, including those who head directly to the wealth of great materials on the Hermetic Library site itself. Anyhow, I’m not one to bribe people to follow the library just in order to self-referentially get followers, but I’m happy to celebrate that there are people that enjoy the materials offered by the library enough to want to follow along. So, while I won’t ever withhold content or make features contingent until some arbitrary number of people follow the library’s social media, when an interesting milestone comes along that’s a great time to not let a good moment pass us all by without comment.

Around the time of the previous anthology, I celebrated by releasing a number of free download codes in various places so people could grab anthologies, if they wanted and were fast enough. But, I figured I’d do something a little different.

I’ve set all digital downloads of Magick, Music and Ritual, the Hermetic Library Anthology Albums, to “Name Your Price” for the next week or so, until I get back from the Esoteric Book Conference.

Of course, I’d appreciate any support for the library you can afford, even if it’s only a couple bucks, which will go toward the costs of keeping the site online, acquisition of materials, and so forth. But, the real point of all this, for me anyway, is to both celebrate with all of you everything over the last few years I’ve been able to do, all the work maintaining and improving this amazing project, and to thank each of you for your help and interest which has allowed me to be in service to the larger community of a living culture and practice of esotericism.

So, thank you for being part of this fantastic journey the last 3 years, and hope you also enjoy whatever the next years brings. Please join the Hermetic Library in promoting these anthology artists who have contributed their work to this benefit anthology album project in particular, and in general consider letting people you think may be interested know about the Hermetic Library.

* — Previously I said 5 years. Wow. Three years ago, Sept 2009, not five! In the words of Monty Python: “And the Lord spake, saying, ‘First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out.’”
