The Queen of the Sky Who Rules Over All the Gods

Bibliotheca Alexandrina has announced a call for submissions to The Queen of the Sky Who Rules Over All the Gods: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Bast, with a submissions period that closes January 20, 2014 and a projected release date in April 2014.

“Bibliotheca Alexandrina is seeking submissions of original material by modern pagans and polytheists for The Queen of the Sky Who Rules Over All the Gods: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Bast. This anthology is being edited by Dorothy Spees of the Temple of Bast.

Suggestions for possible contributions include, but are not limited to:
-prayers
-hymns
-rituals
-essays
-poetry
-short fiction
-recipes
-artwork

Those interested in contributing to this anthology are encouraged to explore the complex and wide-ranging influence of the Lady of the Beautiful East, who always was, and continues to be, so much more than just “the cat goddess”. Aspects of Bast that contributors may wish to explore include, but are not limited to: Bast as a goddess of the sun, women, fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, protection, the home, motherhood, prosperity, healing, devotion, purity, music, dancing, perfume, joy, secrets, lions, and of course, cats.

Contributors are also welcome to explore Bast in the context of her close relationships, and often shared identities with other Egyptian deities, such as Ra, Hathor, Sekhmet, and Atum.

We also welcome submissions based in Greco-Egyptian syncretism that explore the worship of Bast in the context of her identification with the Hellenic deities Artemis and Aphrodite, and personal writings on the mystical experiences of modern devotees who have come to their own unique understandings of their Divine Mother.” [via]
