John Muth’s elegant and humane storytelling returns Swamp Thing to its “roots” in more than one sense over the course of this short graphic novel. I really felt like it was a return to the literary roots of the character in Theodore Sturgeon’s short story “It.” As in the Sturgeon original, a child’s perspective is important here. A knowledge of the comic book continuity is unnecessary to appreciate this volume.
The beautiful watercolor images of the story are very consistent with the other work I’ve encountered by the author/artist. [via]
