Summary for the week ending Sep 24, 2017

Here’s a summary of activity for the week ending September 24th, 2017.

There was a cold snap this last week. I actually fired up the wood stove one morning for the first time since last winter. It’s starting to get all dark and blustery up in here, though I understand it might get into the 80s for a last hurrah a couple days this week. However, I have a nagging feeling it will be a long cold winter this time around. The library cats and I are starting to feel it coming on the winds with rain. It’s going to take some serious effort to keep spirits up though.

Getting lots of pages up for languages other than English, now that the tools are in place to handle that. There’s so many pages on the site that it will take a long time, if ever, for everything to get done, but there’s a lot of the technical books of Thelema getting in place. A large number in Portuguese have been added, thanks to a great volunteer, and I’ve been adding new portal graphics and fixing import cruft on the matching English pages as we go. I’ve also been working through German, Esperanto, Spanish and French as I can, which is slowly, but I’m making progress.

And, really, let’s be honest, I mentioned a while ago that I’m not really fluent in any of those, or the languages that haven’t even been started. I’m sure my translations are less than ideal, but I’m doing what I can with what I’ve got. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in helping with any of the various language portals, do let me know.

I’d love to get source materials up for Latin and Classical Greek along with other source material in other languages, which can then be added in English translation to the main site. That’s a whole project that I haven’t started, and wish there was someone, or ones, interested in taking that on as a project.

Welp. Reader’s Theatre: Household Gods was a bit of a bust. Only one person showed up, and only to listen, so I called it off. If it’s just me participating, it’s basically a podcast; so I might as well record it directly instead of through voice chat, if I’m going to do it. And, maybe that’s how I should do it, if I keep doing it.

Maybe there just isn’t interest in the idea of Reader’s Theatre, or in voice chat, in general, for the library. If you’ve got ideas of what you’d want to attend or participate in as far as events over in voice chat, let me know. Or for another library podcast or video? Also, if you are interested in hosting or being a guest for an event, interview, class, or soever in voice chat or podcast or video get in touch and let’s talk about getting things going!

It’s less than a week before the September 30th deadline for submissions for Magick, Music and Ritual 13 and to GIT COMMIT GLITCH, the Odd Order anthology. (I’ve not yet gotten submissions for the Odd Order anthology so far, so I may have to skip this year; though I’ve heard of two that might come in. So, get something to me! I’m going to be sad if I can’t even offer an EP to showcase some awesome artists.) If you’re working on a submission, hurry! If you’re not … time to start!

Lots of new pages and work on old pages on the site, which is pretty much every week, really. You can always check the front page of the site which shows the most recent changes and new pages, or check out the Recent Changes special page for a full list.
