Spinning Spells, Weaving Wonders

Bkwyrm reviews Spinning Spells, Weaving Wonders: Modern Magic for Everyday Life by Patricia Telesco in the Bkwyrm archive.

The cover has a little banner on it with the words “Over 300 Spells!”. This work is essentially a spellbook, encompassing many traditions. Telesco is an engaging writer, but there isn’t enough information to make this a good tool for the beginner. Very quick overview of what magick and Wicca are in Chapter One. It’s not a tremendously fun read – lists of ingredients and incantations get boring after a while. This work is more useful as a reference source, when looking for a particular type of ritual. The spells can be performed “as-is”, or with personal modifications.
