Drew Rausch and Aaron Alexovich's Eldritch! Vol 1 from SLG Publishing

“ANYA SOBCZEK (SUB-CHECK) is a snarling science major with an arm full of Darwin tattoos. Her brother OWEN is a sulking introvert in a coven of teenage occultists. The Sobczek sibs have always been brutally competitive, but now that Owen’s blood has started BUBBLING with ancient tentacled abominations, their rivalry is about to enter a vast new dimension of cosmic terror …

Collecting the six issue digital comic book series, Eldritch! is a comedic horror story with Lovecraftian trappings that pits science against belief. Written by Aaron Alexovich (Serenity rose, Kimmie 66) and illustrated by Drew Rausch (Sullengray, Haunted Mansion) Eldritch! will appeal to all fans of dark humor comics.”

The Dream-Quest of Ted Newbarn

The Dream-Quest of Ted Newbarn” is issue 4 of the Eldritch! series I wrote about recently. It’s now available after a lengthy delay due to, no doubt, unspeakable events of cosmic scope.

“Theodore ‘Ted’ Newbarn is a real ‘Regular Joe.’ He likes fast cars, chocolate cake, Huey Lewis AND The News. He also has a torso filled with angry black tentacles and an unkillable demon for a baby. And as soon as he figures all that out… man, oh man, things are gonna BURN.

Eldritch!

I recently ran across Eldritch! which is a pretty fun title for a nifty story practically designed with me in mind. The creators Drew Rausch and Aaron Alexovich have put together a pretty awesome recipe of strange mixed with sequential fiction.

“ANYA SOBCZEK (SUB-CHECK) is a snarling science major with an arm full of Darwin tattoos. Her brother OWEN is a sensitive young thing in a coven of teenage occultists. The Sobczek sibs have always been brutally competitive, but now that Owen’s blood has started BUBBLING with ancient tentacled abominations, their rivalry’s about to enter a vast new dimension of cosmic terror…”

While the story grabbed me quickly, it really started to pick up for me in the 3rd issue, which is when a bunch of the set up starts to really pay off, but also is the issue where the character of Anya becomes a bit more textured and complex. I am looking forward to the rest of these issues to be released in spite of some creeping miasma that appears to have been delaying issues …

You can also check out the Eldritch! fan page and can follow the creators on various social media networks.

One of the little things that I find adds to what’s great about this publication is that it is being offered in so many formats, including portable PDF and CBZ. Check out the various places where this comic is currently available such as DriveThruComics, but if you gander at the option to by directly from the site note that Sullengrey Vol 1, which is itself a 149 page book, is on offer as a free bonus with purchase of all three current Eldritch! issues.

But, you can check out an 8-page preview and see for yourself before picking your poison:
