It is time to start thinking about artwork and design for the one and only Hermetic Library album in 2014 from the Anthology Project!

There is a little bit over a month left before the deadline for submissions, on August 15th, 2014, for this year’s album, Magick, Music and Ritual 10, so I want to mention that I am looking for an artist to work with me to create the cover and design.

After a sequence of covers by myself, the inagural guest artist, for Fall 2012, was Valerie Herron. For the full year in 2013, the covers were by Mustafa al-Laylah. You should check out all of these great designs, and the albums they represent, by the guest anthology cover artists!

Now it’s time to start thinking about the next cover. If you or someone you know would be great for this and interested in working with me on them, I’d love to hear ideas. The cover could also be part of a whole poster or a detail of some part of a larger image. Or, perhaps you have an idea I have not even thought of and want to propose that instead!

Since there’s a tiny lull between the recent deadline for submissions and the upcoming release of the final Hermetic Library Album for 2013, Magick, Music and Ritual 9, I wanted to mention that I am looking for an artist to work with me to create the covers for the next full year, the four cover designs for the 2014 anthology albums.

The inagural guest artist for Fall 2012 was Valerie Herron. For this full year the four quarterly covers in 2013 have been by Mustafa al-Laylah. You should check out all of these great designs by the guest anthology cover artists!

Now it’s time to start thinking about the next series of covers. If you or someone you know would be great for this and interested in working with me on them, I’d love to hear ideas for covers that would span all four issues. These covers can also combine into a whole poster or be such that each cover is a detail of some part of a larger image. As you may know, the excellent artwork and design for Magick, Music and Ritual 5 was done by Valerie Herron, a Portland, OR artist. I’ve already mentioned how awesome the design has turned out, and you can now see the cover illustration yourself, and the physical CD will be super impressive this time around too.

Fall 2012 marks the first issue of the anthology album where a guest artist has volunteered their time and effort, but I’d like to continue this. So, today I’m announcing a call for proposals for the artwork and design of the quarterly anthology albums for this next year. I am looking for an artist or artists to create the various illustrations needed for the cover and other collateral such as the physical CD design.

One option that I’ve been seriously contemplating is the do a unified design across the full year by having an artist propose a large scale poster from which each anthology cover will be a detail. This would mean one large illustration with several elements, from which portions would become specific anthology album covers over the year. I’d then be able to offer a full poster as well as the specific album designs. I think this might be a really fun project and a neat way to expand and deepen the artwork for the entire year.

For any proposal, I’ll need at least the artwork and design for the first album in time for Winter 2013, so that means having proposals for at least that issue in by Jan 15 and to have the artwork for at least the cover done and to me by Jan 31th. I can provide more details about format and design constraints if you are interested, so contact me for those.
