The Hermetic Library visual pool is a visual scavenger hunt for images of a living Western Esoteric Tradition.

Images of your ritual or ritual space, images of sigils or tools, showing off your own library or special volume from the restricted stacks, sacred spaces and places, esoteric artefacts and installations, inspired paintings and people — these and much more are part of the culture and practice of magick.

A Message for this Christmas

A message from Manly P. Hall, set to a nice video of a fireplace, suggested by nireiny. This isn’t your father’s Yule Log on the TV.

“There is something to do besides waste time. We have become the greatest time wasters of all history, because we have created a vast entertainment world, which is not very entertaining, in which we escape from responsibility into something that is little better than nothing. This idea of looking for entertainment to escape from self is not good. If we were more critical on these points, we would get better entertainment. We would have things we really want to see or places we really want to go. But, simply to go and work for a number of years, retire on social security, and consider ourselves to be fortunate when we don’t have to work anymore, is an illusion. It’s the most terrible illusion of all. We’re only happy when we’re doing something useful, something constructive, something that helps others or improves ourselves as useful citizens.”

364 Days

364 Days” by Murder City Devils from Thelema

“An open letter to Saint Nicholas…
Whiskey and cookies on the mantle
The children asleep wait for St. Nick
While they sleep we can drink
The tree is hung – tribute to you
And three hundred and sixty for days til I see you again
And a thousand more tears
And a thousand more tears
St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas, at the North Pole
364 days spent all alone
Take off your boots, pour a drink
Try not to cry, try not to think
St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas, at the North Pole
364 days spent all alone
Take off your boots, pour a drink
Try not to cry, try not to think
Try not to think…
And you drink your eggnog and I’ll drink my wine
Toast the season, but just one more time
The morning is coming, the whiskey is empty
The gifts have arrived, St. Nick has come and gone
St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas, at the North Pole
364 days spent all alone
Take off your boots, pour a drink
Try not to cry, try not to think
St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas, at the North Pole
364 days spent all alone
Take off your boots, pour a drink
Try not to cry…
And it ends like it started, the hugs and the kisses
The bullshit flows, the bullshit flows
You raise your bottle, and I’ll raise my flask
Toast Christmas future, and toast Christmas past
And when they’re all gone, sit down in peace
Wait one more year
And pour just one more drink
St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas, at the North Pole
364 days spent all alone
Take off your boots, pour a drink
Try not to cry, try not to think
St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas, at the North Pole
364 days spent all alone
Take off your boots, pour a drink
Try not to cry, try not to think
Try not to think…
St. Nicholas… All alone…”
