“Esoteric Theories of Color and Modern Art – Dr Amy Hale

This lecture will explore the ways that esoteric understandings of color as an entity and force developed through Neoplatonic thought”

“‘Colors are Forces, the Signatures of the Forces’: Esoteric Theories of Color and Modern Art

This lecture will explore the ways that esoteric understandings of color as an entity and force developed through Neoplatonic thought, Renaissance magic, the earliest sciences of optics and into modern esoteric and occult theory and practice. I will look at the role of color in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Theosophy and the work of Rudolph Steiner, perhaps providing greater insight into artists such as Hilma af Klint, Ithell Colquhoun, Ethel Le Rossignol and others who clearly saw color in a way that went far beyond symbol.”

“Satan’s Places: In search of Baphomet and the Black Mass – Andy Sharp

This richly illustrated talk traces an itinerary from the ruins of Mendes in Egypt via the tophets of Tunisia to the hills of Dublin”

“We take a chronological trip from antiquity to the kaleidoscopic 1960s following the hoof steps of the Devil, his sacrifices and sacrileges, some apocryphal, others horrifically real. This richly illustrated talk traces an itinerary from the ruins of Mendes in Egypt via the tophets of Tunisia to the hills of Dublin, before heading to Belgium and Paris to luxuriate in the sumptuous robes of 19th-century European decadence, in search of the bona fide Black Mass. We explore the obsessions of Joris-Karl Huysmans’ brilliant depiction of Satanism in his infamous novel Là-bas, and the opulent churches and strange events in Bruges that fired his imagination, before reprising the fictional Mass at the denouement of his book.”

“Performances
23 September
13:00 & 16:00, €7/€5

Venue
Draíocht Blanchardstown – Main Auditorium

Duration
50mins”

“Do you know what happened when the moon spun round? When darkness tumbled upon us, the cats came out to play and the mischievous lady of the river explored what lies behind the moon.

A wonderfully dark and dreamy performance for young audiences, with a beautiful display of aerial dance performed by Fidget Feet’s aerial performers entwined with Ceol Connected and Jym Daly’s melodic and enchanting airs.

Inspired by the poetry and stories of WB Yeats, this coming together of artists and performers from the worlds of aerial dance and traditional arts has resulted in a unique experience that is sure to leave audiences of all ages enthralled.

‘It was the cats who noticed it first; the moon had spun round. And with a great and mischievous smile, the moon asked for a new dance for all.'”
