Hermetic Library Newsletter #102

Don't open it, Pandora! You'll let the Internet out! Run!

First week of the new calendar year! Hope your festivities were … festive. For my part, I was just hanging out with the library cats, as one does. But, I was most excited for perihelion, when the earth is closest in its orbit to the sun.

Speaking of perihelion, I’ve wrapped an issue of Hermetic Library Zine for January 2023! With that, I’ve started collecting contents for an issue at aphelion in 6 months. I also took a break from creating images for Goetia and tarot this week, but kept posting from the previous week (except not entirely cold turkey because I did create a meme). This week I also welcome Trevor Blake’s OVO ‘zine as a new Reflection, a restored archive of a zine that fall off the Internet. And, after a lengthy hiatus, I posted new merch for Patrons and on the public shop!

Plus, there the usual weekly stuff like almanac, propaganda, memes, calendar, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, mail call, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #101

I did a double take, then my brain melted into a puddle and leaked away.

Time to take a look over the last year and do a little retrospective! I look back at all the stuff I remember doing, and include here by reference anything I forgot about.

Plus, there the usual weekly stuff, like Goetia, tarot, almanac, propaganda, memes, calendar, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

So, that’s a wrap! This is the last newsletter for the arbitrary location of earth in its orbit around the sun. See you on the flip side of the earth relatively near this general location! But, whatever you celebrate in this season, thank you for being here and following along with Hermetic Library in this newsletter and anywhere else you do, and, most of all, I wish you and yours well and weal in this upcoming trip around the sun!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #100

a brand new cryptid egregore just dropped

I hope you had a good solstice this week! And, during this overall season, however you might celebrate such things, I wish you and yours well and weal now and in the coming year!

So, depending on how and from where one counts, of course, this is newsletter 100. Not the last for the year, but it is a nice round number. I mean, it’s a thing. Some thing of some kind, anyway.

Also, as I write this, I’m kinda boggled that right now, at the moment, this morning, the difference between my modest indoor thermostat eco setting and the outside "feels like" temperatures is separated by over 90° F. How do external walls even wall tho?

The last of the posts on the blog in the series about all the tracks on Magick, Music and Ritual 17 will post later today. And, that’s a wrap until next year!

Really feeling like the end of the year wrapping up around here even though there’s one more newsletter to go just under the wire.

I didn’t do my regular Goetia and tarot image experiments this week, but I did do a bunch of images because a brand new cryptid egregore just dropped. If you’re not on Mastodon, you may have missed this, but out of nowhere on Dec 16th a new entity was birthed and/or revealed to the world: John Mastodon.

Speaking of the ‘verse, the followers count for the main library account passed 489 last night, and the profile for the Omnium Gatherum firehose is also just shy of 333! Boy, won’t I be embarrassed if OG gets more followers than on main? I mean, it’s all just for fun, and my numbers are really modest anyway. But, celebrate the things, when they do things, as and when one can.

Plus, almanac, propaganda, meme, calendar, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #99

I tried? Not well enough, apparently. So it goes.

As I type this, it is below freezing outside all day, and there’s a few random snowflakes blowing around every once in a while. Time to put the ambient fireplace on the TV and send out a newsletter!

I had hoped to get some seasonal cards in the post for Patrons this week, but that looks like a big nope. They’ll go out but they’ll be late. ::sad trombone:: I tried? Not well enough, apparently. So it goes.

There’s now ~450 followers of the main library account in the ‘verse. I did post about reaching 420 for giggles, but that’s the only one this last week, though it’s still climbing as people find me, mainly in spurts as Space Karen melts down the other place. I’ve barely even looked at any of the old accounts on big social, tbh.

Belatedly, I’ve been posting each day about the new anthology release, a post about the covers and then once for each track. That’s still going on. But, it’s something I like to do so there’s a post for each participant on the blog about them and their track on the issue.

What else? IDEK! I’m sure I’m forgetting something … but, I’ll either remember or I won’t.

Hope your season is and will be great so far. There’s one more newsletter before the general week of festivities, so I’ll just leave it at that for now, with sending you those thoughts around normal people holidays. But, hey, look! As of an hour ago, it looks like Gävlebocken is still standing!

And, for those of us paying more attention to the travels Earth around the Sun for our annual milestones, this coming week will mark Sol in 0° Capricorn, Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 21:48 UTC. Huzzah! Hope your trip around the sun since the previous one was successful! Here’s to another one!

Plus, almanac, propaganda, calendar, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #98

Goodbye Library Cat Mars Hypotenuse Pteropus!

This week I said goodbye to Library Cat Mars as she passed away. Egads. Along with (her mother? sister?) Beesknees, who passed early last year; and Ereshkigal also unexpectedly passing earlier this year, it’s been an awful lot of loss and heartache to handle at the library lately, tbh. It’s a bit hard to write about it without having to take a break, you know?

In other news, I also had an outage this week that took me offline for most of a day, which was a bummer; but, I did laundry, read, sipped on a smoothie, and cuddled library cats. That was fine. More of that. Maybe not the laundry part, per se. Almost sad to get the Internet back, but needs must!

Plus, almanac, propaganda, a sort of meme thing, calendar, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #97

because it’s just … wow!

This morning I released Magick, Music and Ritual 17 and there’s so much involved in releasing another album! I’ve been busy all week, and still have things to do around this event, and I keep finding things I’ve forgotten to do. It’s a big bright spot in my year. I’m really excited for everyone to get to hear this now, and not just me listening to it (and last week’s TINAHLAA-4) over and over to be sure it’s just right!

I also generated image for Glasya-Labolas from Goetia and Prince of Wands from Thoth Tarot. There was some noise I made about the number of followers I had in the ‘verse. And there’s an image from NASA’s Artemis 1 Orion, because it’s just … wow!

Plus, almanac, propaganda, a meme in here somewhere, calendar, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #96

Omg! Don’t do it, gnome! Put down those matches!

Hope your turkey day was a success, if you celebrate! But, today the arrayed forces of Buy Nothing Day face off against the sinister army of Black Friday, so be safe out there!

This week I did a bunch related to the release of This Is Not An Hermetic Library Anthology Album -4 as a big thank you to my ongoing supporters, who help make all that I do possible. Really. They are the best! (And, if that’s you, hi!) I also generated image for Naberius from Goetia and Queen of Wands from Thoth Tarot. And, it was last Thursday of the month, so there was an Occult Love Fest-ursday. And, and, I’m holding a reverse sale on the library’s digital publications. And, and, and … gaining followers in the ‘verse, thinking about burning goats!

Then, on top of whatever I may have forgotten to mention, one of the library cats, too sweet (and yet still annoying!) snuggle bug elderly Mars, is not feeling so well right now. She could use your kind thoughts.

Plus, almanac, propaganda, memes, calendar, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

I mean, yes? And … you say that like it’s a bad thing?

Big thing for me this week is I got everything sorted for the upcoming release of This Is Not An Hermetic Library Anthology Album -4 for US Thanksgiving, a supporter exclusive issue that adds on the actual anthology album, which is coming up in December, for the library’s birthday anniversary. But, I’ve got a special sneak peek for you!

This week’s generative art is Aim in Goetia and the Knight of Wands tarot card. I’ve got a bunch of 4-up grids here linked to the threads on the library’s social if you want to see them all, being individually posted until done.

Plus watching social media grow, almanac, propaganda, memes, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #94

Well, I’ll keep telling myself that’s okay, anyway!

With the insanity going on on birdsite of late, a lot of people have been newly making their way to the ‘verse, as an alternate lifeboat or just simply moving for real kit and kaboodle, and a lot of those directly on some Mastodon instance. Followers of the main library profile at Hrmtc I∴O∴ has definitely been increasing, all the way to over 175 this morning. Hey, it’s slow, for sure, but it’s something! And, every follower means that the reach of Hermetic Library extends to whatever instance they are on, so potentially tons of other people not following are also seeing things too. I mean, people seeing things I post is a wild improvement over no one seeing anything, right?!

This week’s generative art experiment is text and seal prompts for Ipos in Goetia, and text and image hint for The Universe tarot card as if by Sarah Paxton Ball Dodson. I’ve got a bunch of 4-up grids here linked to the threads on the library’s social if you want to see them all, being individually posted until done. I try out a new rendering engine version that MidJourney is testing. I also go a little meta thinking about what kind of -mancy all this might be.

Plus a new shelfie, almanac, propaganda, a meme, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!

Hermetic Library Newsletter #93

Thelema, Agape, and a bunch of other more or less secret words!

Welcome to newsletter 93! Thelema, Agape, and a bunch of other more or less secret words! Of course, it’s kinda arbitrary, and whether this is actually newsletter 93 depends on how you count them, but still fun to notice.

Also, I, synchronistically, just passed 93 followers on the library’s Hrmtc I∴O∴ account; and, coincidentally, passed 69 over on the Omnium Gatherum account. It’s definitely been way slower than on other platforms to gain followers in the ‘verse, but even with the library accounts on my little instance I’m at least seeing some people are still able to find me and those few see what I post.

Happy (upcoming) astronomical Samhain, when ☉ at 15° ♏︎ (Sun at 15° Scorpio), which occurs Nov 7 at 10:36 UTC this year. Also, this whole week from observed to astronomical, join me in keeping the real spirit of the season alive!

This week I’m still working mostly on some behind the scenes stuff. I’ve got to migrate the actual library site, and that’s a super big pain to do.

This week’s generative art experiment is text and seal prompts for Marax in Goetia, and text and image hint for The Aeon tarot card as if by Johfra Bosschart. I’ve got with 4-up grids here from MidJourney and DALL-E, and I link to the threads on the library’s social if you want to see them all, being individually posted until done.

Plus almanac, propaganda, a meme, zine, updates, quotes, reviews, and more!

And, as always, I worked on various other things on website, blog, and more … Enjoy!
