The Choronzon Machine

The Choronzon Machine: a Multi-media Multi-cultural Multi-subcultural Ritual Opera by the Metamophic Ritual Theatre company, written and more by Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule (credited on the cover as Orryelle Bascule-Defenestrate), with music by The HarleQuintet, a 2006 DVD of enhanced live performances from 2001, is part of the collection at the Reading Room.

Metamorphic Ritual Theatre Orryelle Defenstrate-Bascule The Choronzon Machine

I picked this up a few years ago primarily for the track “Melek Taus“, about a figure of importance with the Feri Tradition which I also later found mentioned in relation to Aleister Crowley’s Aiwass, and to a lesser degree because of the name of The HarleQuintet.

“In the ritual theatrickall-musical device we call The Chrononzon Machine the Audience Initiates follow the Fool Initiate’s journey through the Great Wheel of the TARO/ROTA, as he cycles through different refractions of Self as reflected through the archetypes of the Major Arcana. On one level this is a personal journey, as the Fool with a child’s innocence heedlessly plunges past the dweller on the threshold and into the Abyss. Through a series of ordeals he confronts and accepts the shadow of Choronzon as he progressively opens to ever more layers of complexity in the hidden mechanisms of the universe. The journey brings him eventually full circle back to the innocence of Zero but with a new layer of Wisdom and Understanding …

The Play is also socio-historical, as The Fool apprehends the escalating frenzy of ‘progress’ & technology in the post-modern world; which the audience also must deal with. It is they, after all, who are controlling the Machine—putting the 33.3¢ Illuminati coins—collected by the Jackal—in it which make the cogs start turning to generate each new scene of coupled polar cards …

Of course it’s not real, it’s just a Play, an Illusion generated by the Magicians for the Audience—a collectively willed hallucination. Is there a play? Is there a ritual? The HarleQuin de-faced itself. The machine goes on … Civilizations rise & crumble and fall. Were they ever There at All?” — back cover

The Choronzon Machine Ritual Opera was performed 3.33 times in Melbourne (Australia) on 2001. The original footage of the already spectacular live production is now further enhanced with effects, animations, and diverse studio-recorded music into a feature-length film.” — back cover

The Book of Going Back By Night

The Book of Going Back By Night by Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule is a new publication of the complete three-part transmission of a received text, part one of which has long been a feature at the Hermetic Library’s Recieved Wisdom section. After considerable time, all three parts are available in published form directly from Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule in a fully illustrated book with commentary by both Orryelle and Nema, through iNSPiRALink. Multimedia Press.

Oryelle Defenestrate-Bascule The-Book of Going Back by Night

“The verses are hand-calligraphed, introduced and illustrated by Orryelle; with an extensive commentary by Orryelle and Nema.”

“The text of this book is a transmission from the double-lion/ess Hrumachis Aker, through the masks and forms of Sekhmet, of the Egyptian and Grecian SphinXes, and (in the Third Chapter) of Babalon and the Beast.

Voices from the ‘future aeon’ of Maat deliver information which intersects with the currents of the Ancient Egyptian ‘Book of Coming Forth by Day’ (translated by E.A.Wallis Budge as The Egyptian Book of the Dead) in the present.

The book is esoteric and mytho-poetical yet has socio-political implications for our times. The Nu Word of IAHM and its formula and application are presented, as well as the AZOTh casting and banishing system.”

About the Book

For me the most fundamental path, the most primal path, is that of the beginning, the Nameless (before speech), the Infinite (before time), The One who is All and None. There is no name for this, no label for the wild stirrings that fill and inform my mind, heart and body—so I call it Pan. In this way it has a presence, a body, a focus, a BEING, and so in this way I have been able to converse with, play with, make love with, consume and be consumed by the primal wilderness archetype that fills me, one that is truer than all other illusions. Through a mask the unnamable is approachable, and Pan is the ultimate mask of endless contradictions united, of seeing the divine in One, in All and in None —all at once.

This book and its extremely loose and flexible system of magick (Called here ‘Pan Magick’ for want of a better name) is an intensely personal project. Let there be no doubt that it is an original system that draws from many wells, birthed from my interface with ‘Pan’. At the peak moments of this dance, like when “The Book of Gate” came to me, ‘I’ was quite absent. Still, here ‘I’ am and It seems a whole crew of ‘mes’ is penning this book and all are, of course, mere illusions and refractions. The act of somehow piecing together notes and rites and somewhat inchoate scribblings from 30 years worth of practice has me wondering what I’m doing. But The Great Pan has laughed and beckons me on and urges me to get it together and get it out there, so away we go.—From the Introduction” [via]

DIONYSOS CHANT:

To the rhythm of the audience or other group of participants performing the Sufi Drum-breath:

Feel the throb

Of blood in your heart

It is the drum of Dionysos

Feel the pulse

Of blood in your veins

It is the drum of Dionysos

Feel the flesh quiver and tense

Dionysos!

Feel the skin shiver and clench

Dionysos!

Feel the river’s sliver in its cleft

Dionysos!

Feel the snake slither in its nest

Dionysos!

Feel it rise from betwixt your thighs

To your chest

Dionysos!

Feel the buzzz of bees in your skull

Of reason be bereft

For Dionysos!

“Last year, Orryelle’s COAGULA became one of our fastest selling titles. In fact, within nine months of release the entire edition had sold out. We are therefore very pleased to announce the third volume in the artist’s Tela Quadrivium series. In describing this new work Orryelle says ‘SOLVE dis-solves the gold distilled in Coagula, tears apart our egos, dismembers our bodies and hurls any conceptions of perfection back into the primal void. Herein lies death, destruction, and the Prima Materia, the base matter, the Al Khem — the fertile black soil of decomposing forms, the compost for new growth. In an exploration of the Nigredo or Blackening phase of Alchemy, the concepts of Black Magic are re-examined in this ThanatErotic tome of the backward winding path; from the darkness of the womb to the darkness of the tomb…'” [via]

The Book of the Horned One: A Gate of Pan Magick

The Book of the Horned One: A Gate of Pan Magick by Aion 131, with illustrations by Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule, is a book you may be interested in checking out. Aion 131 has several items in the collection of the library, such as “Commentary of The Book of Gate Called Pan” and “The War Engine of Liber AL” (which last, by the way, has been getting a lot of attention from the Anonymous #EtherSec people recently). This book is being published by Concrescent Press, the publishing house started by Hermetic Library fellow Sam Webster.

Orryelle Defenstrate-Bascule’s 156=Musick=Babalon=Kaos

You may be interested in a new release by Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule & The HermAphroditic ChAOrder of the SILVER DUSK through Zoharum Records called “156=Musick=Babalon=Kaos”. This limited release of 156 copies is currently on pre-order, set for release on Jun 21st, via Alchembria in Poland.

“The Silver Dusk’s 156 = Musick Project is an experiment of Process: Magickal Musick was recorded by members of The HermAphroditic ChAOrder of the SILVER DUSK -usually in ritual context or with invocational intent- then posted on CD to other member/s in another country for them to add more layers to. This continued progressively until completion.

The style of music ranges from neoclassical ambient orchestral multi-instrumental corroborations and layered electronic experimentations to simple primal ritual corroborees with sticks and bells and harmonious voices around a fire by the Hekate Tree.

Included are several live improvisations from when various members converged physically in different locales: From the initial 9-person onstage live jam of ‘She Shall Ride He’ in Melbourne Australia 2004 which launched the project synchronous with others starting tracks in the US and Korea, to the harmonics of the 12 participants in the EquiNOXULiuqE Circle in Hekate’s Grove in Seattle, Sept 2010.”
